Fiio Darkside Pro Linear Power Supply

The Fiio Darkside Pro replaces the switching wall adapter feeding your desktop audio gear with a genuine low noise linear power supply. Cleaner power means a lower noise floor, and the Darkside Pro brings true audiophile power delivery, built around a real toroidal transformer, to a price that undercuts most boutique alternatives.

Type and Technology

At its core is a 75W toroidal transformer using a grain oriented silicon steel core and a seamless, fold free coil for a uniform magnetic field with minimal leakage. Rectification is handled by a Japanese Shindengen D15XB60 bridge, followed by a filter bank of five ELNA capacitors, seven Rubycon capacitors and two WIMA film capacitors. A fully discrete NMOS regulation stage with dual IRFZ34NPBF MOSFETs in parallel keeps internal resistance low and transient response fast. The result is switchable 12V or 15V DC output at up to 3A through a GX16 aviation grade socket, with output noise as low as 17uV A weighted at 12V and 30uV at 15V.

Build and Features

The full width 188 x 188 x 42.3mm chassis weighs about 2.2kg, most of it honest transformer mass, and is sized to stack neatly under Fiio desktop components.
