The Benchmark LA4 is the HPA4 without the headphone amplifier, a 100% analog line preamplifier with the same THX-888 relay gain control, the same vanishingly low distortion, and SNR above 135dB, making it the only preamplifier Benchmark recommends inserting between a DAC3 and AHB2 without degrading system performance. Designed, assembled, and tested in the USA.

The LA4 is the dedicated preamplifier for listeners who use the Benchmark AHB2 for speakers and do not need headphone amplification from their preamp. If you also want headphone capability, the Benchmark HPA4 performs the same preamplifier role with an integrated headphone stage.
