The Benchmark HPA4 is the ultimate expression of the THX-888 amplifier design in a headphone and line amplifier, 256-step relay gain control in 0.5dB increments, 64 precision relays, SNR above 131dB, and THD below 0.00006%. Designed, assembled, and tested in the USA.

Type and Technology

Desktop headphone amplifier and line preamplifier, fully balanced, 100% analog signal path. THX-888 with AAA feed-forward error correction. 256-step relay gain control (0.5dB steps). Balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs and outputs. Balanced 4-pin XLR and 6.35mm headphone outputs. Touch screen. IR remote compatible with Benchmark DAC3, single remote operates both. 12V trigger I/O.

System Context

The HPA4 bridges the Benchmark DAC3 B (or DAC3 L) to headphones and loudspeakers simultaneously. Its line outputs can feed the Benchmark AHB2 power amplifier for a complete headphone and speaker system from a single preamp. One remote controls the whole stack.
