Type and Technology

Each shell houses a custom 10mm bioceramic diaphragm dynamic driver that acts as a subwoofer, rolling off gently at 300Hz where it hands over to the armature array. Two dual midrange balanced armatures cover vocals and instruments, while a dual ultra high frequency tweeter, modified from the well known SWFK design, extends the treble smoothly. The result is a seamless seven driver hybrid with a carefully managed crossover.

Sound Character

Kiwi Ears tunes the Astral with a powerful 9dB sub-bass shelf that transitions into a flat, neutral midrange. A sculpted pinna gain peak at 2.8kHz gives vocals natural presence, and the treble rolls off uniformly toward 15kHz for an airy, spacious top end. It is a reference leaning signature with real low end weight.

Build and Comfort

The compact, ergonomically shaped earpieces detach via standard 0.78mm 2-pin connectors. The stock 1.2m cable is modular, so you can swap between the included 3.5mm single ended and 4.4mm balanced plugs without buying a second cable. At 23 ohms and 105dB sensitivity, the Astral runs happily from a phone dongle or portable player.
