Kiwi Ears Quintet

Sale price$219.00

The Kiwi Ears Quintet packs four different driver technologies into a five driver array and has become a reference point for neutral tuning in its class. Kiwi Ears calls the design a quadbrid: dynamic, balanced armature, planar and piezoelectric drivers working together in one compact shell.

Type and Technology

Each side combines a 10mm DLC diaphragm dynamic driver for bass, two Knowles balanced armatures for the midrange, a micro planar transducer that sustains the presence region and treble, and a PZT piezoelectric driver that adds air at the very top. A carefully matched crossover keeps the four technologies coherent. The detachable 0.78mm 2-pin cable is oxygen free silver plated copper with a 3.5mm plug.

Sound Character

The Quintet is tuned like a studio monitor. A modest sub bass shelf hands off to flat, honest mids around 300Hz, pinna gain peaks naturally near 3kHz, and the planar plus piezo pairing extends the treble far beyond audibility. Fast, spacious and detailed without turning sterile, it is widely treated as a neutral benchmark in its price range.

Build and Comfort

The ergonomic shells stay compact for a five driver design and isolate well with a good tip seal. The 1.2m silver plated copper cable is supple with low microphonics.
