Fiio Level 1 Compact Desktop Amplifier

The Fiio Level 1 is a compact desktop stereo amplifier from Fiio's Jade Audio line that hides serious power inside a notebook sized chassis. It is built to wake up passive bookshelf speakers on a desk or in a small room, and it wears a warm retro look of aluminum and real wood side panels.

Type and Technology

A Texas Instruments TPA3255 Class D chip with PurePath Ultra HD error correction delivers up to 300W plus 300W into 4 ohms when fed by a 600W class power supply. With the included 48V/5A adapter, Fiio rates it at 120W plus 120W into 4 ohms at under 1% THD+N, far more than most desktop speakers will ever ask for. Inputs cover Bluetooth 6.0 with LDAC, AAC and SBC, line in, coaxial and USB, while outputs include speaker terminals, a subwoofer out and a pre out.

Sound Character

Clean, controlled and dynamic, with tuning built around German WIMA and Japanese Nichicon and ELNA capacitors on a six layer immersion gold PCB. Independent treble and bass knobs on the front panel let you shape the sound by hand, and a parametric EQ for the digital inputs is available through the Fiio Control app.

Build and Features

The aluminum alloy chassis with wood side panels, tactile toggle switches and machined knobs give it a vintage hi-fi feel. RGB indicator lighting shows the active input and Bluetooth codec at a glance, and pressing the knob cycles through sources. Available in Black or Silver.
