Type and Technology

The FX17 uses a 1DD + 4BA + 8EST arrangement. A large lithium magnesium alloy diaphragm dynamic driver produces the low end, four custom Knowles balanced armatures cover the midrange and presence region, and eight premium Sonion electrostatic drivers extend the top octaves out to 40kHz. An electronic and physical dual system five way crossover keeps the response smooth and the impedance curve flat, so it behaves predictably across sources. It is Hi-Res Audio certified.

Sound Character

Expect reference level resolution with effortless, grain free treble air from the electrostatic array, a precise and spacious stage, and bass that is deep, quick and controlled. Frequency response stretches from 8Hz to 40kHz. At 16 ohms and 104dB/mW the FX17 is not hard to drive, but a resolving source from our DAP collection lets it stretch its legs.

Build and Comfort

Each shell is precision milled from a single block of high density titanium and meticulously hand polished, giving strength and a premium feel with excellent long session comfort. The 1.2m cable is an 8 strand, 360 wire gold, silver and copper Litz design with MMCX connectors and three swappable terminations: 3.5mm single ended, 4.4mm balanced and a USB-C plug with built in decoding and DSP for direct digital connection to phones and laptops.
