Fiio FF1 Earbuds

The Fiio FF1 is a classic flat head earbud rebuilt with modern parts. A 14.2 mm beryllium plated driver, a detachable mic cable, and a bundled USB C dongle make it an absurdly complete package for pocket money.

Type and Technology

The 14.2 mm dynamic driver uses a beryllium plated diaphragm on a PU gasket suspension, keeping distortion under 0.2 percent. A hidden acoustic resistance pipe reinforces bass, the eternal weak spot of open earbuds, and the cable includes an in line microphone and detaches on a compact 2 pin connector. Fiio even includes a USB C to 3.5 mm dongle DAC in the box for phones without a headphone jack.

Sound Character

Reviewers land on a mild warm V shape with surprisingly deep, IEM like mid bass for an open earbud, relaxed lush mids, and a big easy soundstage. Treble is present and polite rather than analytical.

Build and Comfort

The 16.2 mm shells are lightweight plastic with metal rear grilles, about 3.2 g per side, worn loose in the ear like earbuds of old. The low profile design is comfortable even for side sleepers, and the included foam covers, silicone rings, and wing hooks tune both fit and bass response.
