Fiio BR13 Desktop Bluetooth Receiver

The FiiO BR13 is the easiest way to give an older stereo, powered speakers or AV receiver modern high resolution Bluetooth. Pair your phone once and every album, playlist and podcast plays through the system you already own, decoded properly through a dedicated ES9018K2M DAC rather than a generic Bluetooth chip.

Type and Technology

The BR13 is a desktop Bluetooth 5.1 receiver and USB DAC built around the Qualcomm QCC5125 Bluetooth chip, an ES9018K2M DAC and a TPA1882 op amp. It supports seven codecs including LDAC, aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, aptX Low Latency, aptX, AAC and SBC, and its USB input accepts audio up to 96kHz/24bit from a PC or TV.

Sound Character

With a proper DAC and op amp stage behind it, the BR13 delivers a clean, detailed and surprisingly refined signal over its RCA outputs, with none of the flat, grainy character of cheap Bluetooth adapters. Built in EQ presets let you nudge the tonal balance to suit your speakers.

Build and Features

A 1.1 inch high contrast display with backlight shows input, codec and volume, controlled by clear front panel buttons. Along with Bluetooth you get optical and coaxial inputs and outputs plus RCA line out, so it can serve as a compact digital hub. It is powered simply over USB-C and measures under 10cm square.
