T+A SDX 3100 HV

T+A's reference streaming DAC and preamplifier, the SDX 3100 HV sits at the top of the HV series. It combines two independent high-resolution converters, a fully integrated third-generation streaming client, and an entirely new reference-grade preamplifier section in a solid machined-aluminium chassis. It inherits the acoustic architecture of the SDV 3100 HV and adds analog inputs, an adjustable analog tone control, and an optional slot-in phono stage. Made in Germany.

Type and Technology

Reference streaming DAC with an integrated reference preamplifier. Digital and analog partitions are strictly separated inside the chassis, and PCM and DSD each travel their own dedicated signal path. A True 1-Bit converter reproduces DSD natively up to DSD 1024 without conversion, while PCM is handled by a Double-Differential Quadruple converter using four 32-bit Burr-Brown chips per channel. The preamplifier is a fully symmetrical double-mono design with gas-tight relays for absolute channel matching. Available in Silver.

Detailed, natural, and effortlessly quiet, in the HV house style. Separate PCM and DSD conversion paths, dual femto-clock timing, and a multi-stage jitter-cleaning system keep the presentation free of digital hardness, while the reference preamplifier stage adds dynamic authority and a spacious, low-noise backdrop across streamed, digital, and analog sources. Four selectable oversampling algorithms and a switchable analog filter let the sound be tuned from crisp to relaxed without leaving the analog domain.

An optional slot-in HV phono module (MM or MC) installs and adjusts from the rear panel. Two headphone outputs, extensive digital and analog inputs, HDMI with ARC, and separate power supplies for the digital and analog sections.

Build and Connectivity

A solid machined-aluminium HV chassis with fully separated digital and analog compartments and a new high-brightness display. Digital inputs include AES/EBU, two coaxial S/PDIF, two BNC, two optical, two USB DAC (to 768 kHz PCM and DSD 1024), two USB host ports for mass storage, and two HDMI inputs. Outputs include one HDMI with ARC, a coaxial digital output, and balanced XLR and single-ended RCA analog outputs, plus H-Link and IPA system links for connecting to other HV components. Balanced XLR and single-ended RCA analog inputs are provided per channel, along with a moving-magnet or moving-coil phono input on the optional module. Network connectivity covers Gigabit Ethernet and dual-antenna Wi-Fi, with an antenna input for radio. Two headphone outputs (6.3 mm and 4.4 mm Pentaconn) sit on the front panel, and separate mains inlets feed the independent digital and analog power supplies.
