Color: Silver

T+A's reference stereo power amplifier, the A 3100 HV is the pure power-amplifier expression of the flagship HV series and the ideal partner for the P 3100 HV preamplifier. It builds on more than a decade of refinement from the long-running A 3000 HV, with over 270 individual revisions to its internal architecture, next-generation components, and refined circuit-board layout. Every stage is fully discrete and runs on T+A's proprietary High Voltage circuitry. Made in Germany.

Type and Technology

Reference stereo power amplifier, solid-state, configurable as a mono block. T+A's High Voltage (HV) circuit concept runs the amplifier stages at extremely high operating voltages for exceptional linearity and a very wide dynamic range, which removes the need for strong global negative feedback. The output stage offers two operating modes. High Current mode keeps the output transistors permanently biased for true Class A operation beyond 75 watts per channel, eliminating switching delays so the amplifier reacts instantly to complex transients. High Power mode delivers 500 watts of Class-AB power per channel for the most demanding loudspeakers, and can be expanded further with a separate power supply. Available in Silver.

Sound Character

Effortless, composed, and physically solid, in the HV house style. The high-voltage stages and true Class A bias give the A 3100 HV a distortion-free, instantaneous response, while the 500-watt Class-AB reserve delivers absolute grip and control into low-impedance and low-sensitivity loudspeakers. The result is weight, poise, and dynamic authority rather than any sense of strain.

Features

Two selectable output modes, High Current (true Class A) and High Power (Class-AB). Stereo or mono operation: configured as a monoblock, the outputs are connected in parallel rather than bridged, doubling current delivery without the doubled distortion and halved minimum impedance that conventional bridging introduces. Output-stage transistors carry integral temperature-monitor diodes that hold them at a constant operating point regardless of load or temperature, for precise control of distortion behaviour. Balanced XLR and single-ended RCA inputs, A and B speaker outputs, and IP control. An optional external power supply adds further stability and current delivery.

Build and Connectivity

A massive machined-aluminium HV chassis built around an internal framework of 10 mm aluminium plates. The complete power circuit and mains supply sit in their own shielded compartment in the underside of the case, separated from the audio signal by a 10 mm aluminium wall, with voltage-amplification and current-amplification stages on separate boards in separate sections to prevent interaction. A new hermetically sealed toroidal transformer is fully encased in a magnetic shield so its stray fields never reach the audio circuitry. Loudspeaker terminals are machined from solid brass and rhodium-plated on every surface. The glass front panel is dominated by dual power-output meters. Rear connectivity includes balanced XLR and single-ended RCA inputs, A and B speaker outputs, an H-Link system bus, a LAN port for IP control, and a high-current mains inlet.

Best For

Owners of demanding, low-sensitivity or low-impedance loudspeakers who want a reference stereo power amplifier that can scale to mono operation, and T+A system builders pairing it with the P 3100 HV preamplifier and the SDX 3100 HV source.
