SW1X VDT III Special

The SW1X VDT III Special is the third-tier Valve Digital Transport from SW1X Audio Design, a wider chassis design with three split-rail discrete power supplies, integrated SSD storage, a valve master clock, a valve SPDIF output stage, and a more refined tube complement than the VDT II. The Special designation indicates copper Super HiB DC core mains transformers and chokes rather than the standard M6 EI core. Made in the UK.

Valve digital transport and network music server with valve master clock, integrated SSD storage, and three split-rail discrete power supplies. Valve master clock using 6DJ7 (ECC88) and EZ80, a refined clock complement compared to the VDT II's EBB91 pairing. Valve-amplified SPDIF output stage using EC86 + 6X5 + 5Y3, three tubes in the output stage circuit versus the VDT II's two. Three fully independent 3-stage split-rail discrete linear power supplies: one for CPU, one for the valve master clock, and one for the valve output stage, all valve-rectified and choke-filtered. Special designation: all transformers and chokes use copper Super HiB DC core material, an upgrade from the standard M6 EI core. Integrated SSD storage for local music library. All internal wiring with SW1X Magnum, Genesis, and Opus conductors. Copper foil-in-oil signal decoupling capacitors. Streaming via Volumio on audio-optimized Linux. Compatible with SW1X DAC products for maximum system synergy.

Sound Character

The three split-rail power supplies and the Super HiB DC core transformers of the Special designation add further isolation and power supply quality over the VDT II, the combination of more sophisticated output stage tubes (EC86 + 6X5 + 5Y3) with cleaner power delivery produces a digital source of significantly greater tonal saturation, soundstage density, and organic analog character.

145 x 445 x 410mm at 13kg, wider chassis than VDT I and II. Available in matte Black or satin Silver front fascia.
