The HE6 Remastered carries that same nanometer-thickness planar driver into a lighter, more comfortable chassis, chasing the reference sound that made the original a benchmark without the weight that made long sessions a chore. HiFiMAN left the driver complement unchanged, so the goal here is continuity: the same speed, resolution, and expansive open-back stage, now easier to wear.

Type & Technology

Open-back, over-ear planar magnetic design built around HiFiMAN's Nanometer Thickness Diaphragm, the same ultra-thin membrane used in the original HE6. The main change in the remaster is structural: a lighter composite headband brings total weight down from roughly 550g to 522g, aimed at listening fatigue rather than sound. With 83.5dB sensitivity and 50 ohm impedance, this is a current-hungry headphone that expects a serious desktop amplifier.

Sound Character

HiFiMAN's stated intent is sonics identical to the original: fast transients, high resolution, strong dynamic contrast, and a wide, open soundstage that comes from the low-mass diaphragm and open architecture. This is a detail-forward, reference-leaning signature rather than a warm or forgiving one. It rewards clean, powerful amplification and high-quality recordings, and it will expose the limits of both.
