GUSTARD R30 Fully-Discrete R2R Network Streaming DAC

Sale price$3,599.99

Color: Black

The Gustard R30 is a fully discrete R2R ladder DAC and network streamer, a flagship alternative to Gustard's delta-sigma designs for listeners who prefer the natural, organic character of resistor ladder conversion. Built around a proprietary CelWare network bridge, FPGA clock management, SC-cut OCXO precision clocking, and a discrete Class-A analog output stage, the R30 is the most technically sophisticated R2R product Gustard has produced.

Type and Technology

Fully discrete R2R DAC and network streamer. Discrete R2R resistor ladder conversion, no delta-sigma chip in the signal path. Native DSD1024 decoding via I2S; in DIRECT DSD mode, the bitstream bypasses PCM conversion entirely and is decoded through a 1-bit switching array for maximum micro-detail accuracy. Three selectable digital filters: Linear Sharp, Minimum Slow, and Super Slow, each addressing different aspects of the frequency vs. time domain trade-off. FPGA-controlled clock management, PLL shaping, depop switching, and signal routing for low jitter and reliable synchronization. SC-cut OCXO crystal clock with superior thermal stability and near-zero jitter. External 10MHz clock input (BNC, 50 ohm) for external master clock synchronization. Proprietary CelWare-based network bridge, purpose-built for audio rather than general Linux, eliminating non-audio tasks and reducing jitter and latency. Supported network protocols: Roon Bridge, AirPlay, HQPlayer NAA, UPnP/DLNA, Spotify Connect, MConnect, BubbleUPnP. XMOS XU216 USB interface with multi-stage filtering. R2R relay-based passive preamp with pure bypass mode and remote volume control. Discrete Class-A low-pass filter analog output stage. Balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA analog outputs. TF card slot. Web-based control at r30.local.

Sound Character

Natural, organic, and tonally rich, R2R resistor ladder conversion has a character that many listeners find more musical and analogue-like than delta-sigma implementations. The R30's Class-A discrete analog output stage, OCXO clocking, and purpose-built CelWare network bridge all contribute to a presentation that is free of the digital artifacts and harshness that lesser implementations can introduce. The three filter options allow meaningful tonal shaping to match source material and system character.

Build and Finish

Full-width aluminum chassis at 430 x 300 x 80mm including feet. 10kg. Remote control included.

Best For

Audiophiles who want the natural, musical character of discrete R2R conversion combined with Roon Ready streaming, passive preamp capability, and external master clock support in a single flagship component.
