Type and Technology
The UTWS5 2025 is a pair of true wireless Bluetooth amplifier ear hooks for detachable cable IEMs, offered in MMCX and 0.78mm 2-pin versions (the two connector versions are separate models and are not interchangeable). A Qualcomm QCC5141 chip provides Bluetooth 5.2 with multipoint, while each hook runs its own AKM AK4332 DAC and amp stage rated at 55mW plus 55mW into 16 ohms. Codec support covers LDAC, LHDC, aptX Adaptive, aptX, AAC and SBC at up to 24 bit 96kHz.
Sound Character
Think of it as a transparent wire replacement: the independent DAC and amp per side drive IEMs with close to wired dongle quality, a low 0.4 ohm output impedance and a 110dB signal to noise ratio. The FiiO Control app adds a full 10 band parametric EQ with adjustable frequency, gain, Q and filter type, so you can dial each IEM in precisely.
Build and Comfort
Each hook weighs about 8g and is fully sealed to IPX4, with no exposed metal charging contacts to corrode. The hooks charge through internal coils inside the 1100mAh USB-C case, power on automatically when removed and shut off when docked. Battery life runs about 8 hours per charge with roughly 20 hours total, and a cVc microphone in each hook handles calls.
