Fiio UTWS17 True Wireless Bluetooth Adapter

Sale price$249.99

FiiO's UTWS line solved a real problem: wired IEMs sound better than true wireless earbuds, but wireless is just more convenient day to day. The UTWS17, sold as FiiO Link TWS, is the most capable version of that idea yet. Two independent ear hooks, each with its own Bluetooth radio and DAC, clip onto the detachable cable connector your IEMs already use and turn them wireless without touching the sound signature you already like.

Type & Technology

Each ear hook runs Qualcomm's QCC5181 chipset with Bluetooth 6.0 and Snapdragon Sound support, paired with its own AKM AK4333 DAC and headphone amp (85mW + 85mW at 32 ohms). Codec support is the widest FiiO has shipped on a UTWS adapter: aptX Lossless (up to 1.2Mbps, CD-quality 44.1kHz/16-bit), LDAC, LHDC V5 (192kHz/24bit), aptX Adaptive, aptX, AAC, and SBC. A 10-band PEQ is available through the FiiO Control app for tuning the sound to your IEM and preference.

Both MMCX and 0.78mm 2-pin connector modules are included, so one UTWS17 works across most detachable-cable IEMs without buying a separate version. The ear hooks charge wirelessly in the case, no exposed pin contacts to corrode, and a small display on the case shows connection status and battery level.

Performance & Everyday Use

Output power and distortion are both improved over the previous UTWS5, so most IEMs should sound like themselves rather than like they're being driven by a phone's onboard DAC. For calls, a dual-microphone array with aptX Voice and CVC noise reduction is built in, and a one-tap Game Mode drops latency to about 74.6ms for watching video or gaming without noticeable lip-sync lag.

Build & Battery

  • Battery life: Approximately 20 hours total on a full charge (about 7 hours on SBC, 5 hours on LDAC), with the charging case holding two additional full charges.
  • Charging: Contactless wireless charging for the ear hooks inside the case, USB-C for the case itself.
  • Case display: Small screen shows connection status and battery level at a glance.

Best For

Anyone with a favorite detachable-cable IEM who wants it wireless for the gym, commute, or travel without buying a second pair of earphones. It's also a good way to try true wireless listening without giving up the fit and sound of an IEM you already know. Pair it with a Snapdragon Sound or LDAC source for the biggest jump in quality; on a source without those codecs, it falls back to AAC or SBC and still works, just without the lossless ceiling.
