Fiio Retro Nano Bluetooth DAC and Headphone Amp

Sale price$65.99

Color: Blue

The Fiio Retro Nano is the debut product of Snowsky, Fiio's playful retro sub brand. It looks like a tiny cassette deck, complete with an animated tape reel interface on its 0.96 inch color display, and it works as both a Bluetooth receiver and a USB DAC for your wired headphones.

Clip it to a lanyard, decorate it with the included stickers, and you have a pocket hi-fi device with genuine audiophile internals.

Type and Technology

A Qualcomm QCC5125 chip handles Bluetooth 5.1 with support for LDAC, aptX Adaptive, aptX LL, aptX HD, aptX, AAC and SBC. Two Cirrus Logic CS43131 DAC chips run the left and right channels separately. Connected over USB C it works as a driver free asynchronous USB DAC up to 96kHz PCM, so it can also clean up audio from a computer, phone or game console.

Sound Character

Clean and detailed for the size, with up to 220mW per channel from the 4.4mm balanced output and a noise floor below 1uV. Eight sound presets include specially tuned retro modes that recall the sound of old tape decks, and a parametric EQ can be dialed in through the Fiio Control app or web interface.

Build and Features

At about 28.3g and 55.1 x 37.5 x 13.7mm it goes anywhere. The rechargeable 3.7V lithium battery (10440 size) is user replaceable and lasts about 7.5 hours, and the Retro Nano can also run straight off USB power with no battery installed, which makes it handy in a hot car or wired to powered speakers. Outputs include a 3.5mm jack with CTIA in line remote and mic support plus a 4.4mm balanced jack.

Best For

Adding high resolution Bluetooth to wired IEMs and headphones, desk setups that want a fun USB DAC, and anyone who misses the cassette era. Browse more options in our DACs collection or consider the Fiio BTR13 for a more conventional form factor.
