Fiio M27

The Fiio M27 is FiiO's flagship digital audio player and the long awaited successor to the Fiio M17. It pairs dual flagship ESS ES9039SPRO DACs with a desktop class HYPER DRIVE amplifier that delivers up to 5000mW per channel balanced, wrapped around a fast Snapdragon QCS6490 running Android 13 on a 5.99 inch display.

Released in late 2025, the M27 is the rare portable that genuinely replaces a desktop stack, complete with a 6.35mm jack, RCA coaxial in and out, optical out, and a fan cooled desktop stand in the box.

Type and Technology

Two ES9039SPRO DACs run fully differential with dedicated ES9312 supply regulators across four independent power supplies. FiiO's sixth generation DAPS FPGA with dual RIVER femtosecond oscillators handles jitter purification, while an XMOS XU316 provides USB decoding to 768kHz/32 bit and native DSD512. The HYPER DRIVE amplifier is a six stage, fully differential design using OPA2211 op amps, dual volume controllers, and relay switching, with five gain levels topping out at an Ultra High mode that produces 5000mW per channel at 32 ohms when powered through the dedicated POWER IN port.

Sound Character

The M27 is tuned reference neutral with a refined, liquid delivery. It is highly resolving, clean, and controlled rather than warm or flattering, with striking dynamic contrast, fast transients, strong separation, and a very dark background. The headroom is effectively desktop grade, so demanding planars and high impedance dynamics stay composed at volume.

Build and Features

The aluminum chassis (about 556g) carries a 5.99 inch 1080 x 2160 screen under Gorilla Glass 5, a removable 9200mAh battery with 35W fast charging, and vapor chamber cooling supplemented by the included DK1 PLUS fan stand. Triple USB C ports separate data, external power, and host duties, and the patented desktop mode bypasses the battery entirely. Storage covers 256GB internal plus dual microSD slots for up to 4TB more. Bluetooth reception supports aptX Lossless via the QCC5181, and FiiO's first 31 band parametric EQ with AUTO EQ ships on this model, alongside All To DSD, MQA, and six operating modes. A Titanium Gold edition is also produced in limited quantities.
