The FiiO FT5 is a full-size open-back planar magnetic headphone that brings flagship-style engineering and a genuinely complete accessory kit to the middle of the market. Its 90mm driver is among the largest in its class, and the packed-in cable system covers practically every source you might own.

Type and Technology

At its heart is a 90mm planar magnetic driver with a 6 micron ultra-thin diaphragm driven by 20 magnets on each side for an even, powerful magnetic field. Rated at 36 ohms with 96dB/mW sensitivity (110dB/Vrms) and up to 2000mW power handling, the FT5 is easy enough for a good portable source yet scales clearly with desktop amplification.

Sound Character

The FT5 delivers a big, spacious presentation with the speed and control planars are prized for. Bass is weighty and physical for an open back, mids are natural and slightly warm, and the treble is energetic without turning sharp. Imaging is precise across a wide, airy stage.

Build and Comfort

The frame combines aluminum alloy parts with a pressure-relieving headband, and FiiO includes two full sets of ear pads, protein leather and suede, so you can tune both comfort and tonality. The 1.5m cable is woven from 392 wires of silver-plated monocrystalline copper and uses a swappable plug system with 3.5mm, 4.4mm, 6.35mm, and XLR 4 pin terminations. Weight is about 456g.
