The FiiO FT13 pairs one of the rarest tonewoods in headphones, South American Purpleheart, with the huge 60mm dynamic driver concept that made the FT1 famous. The wood is kiln-stabilized and aged for months to develop its deep wine-like color, then carved, polished, and lacquered into ear cups that are as much furniture-grade craft as audio gear.

Type and Technology

This closed-back over-ear uses a 60mm dynamic driver with a wool composite nano-fiber wood diaphragm: cold-climate birch pulp blended with carbon fiber threads using a century-old paper-making process, baked to 0.1mm, with wool fibers adding natural flexibility. The proprietary W-shaped geometry expands the vibration area by 25.8 percent, and a Japanese CCAW voice coil with 0.035mm wire keeps moving mass low. A standing wave dissipation chamber, rear cavity absorbing cotton, and a noise-reducing U-shaped tube cut ambient noise by up to 26dB passively.

The FT13 sounds rich and engaging, with impressively deep, well-controlled bass, a full midrange, and treble that stays smooth and refined. The dense Purpleheart cups damp resonance for a fast, clean presentation, and the closed design keeps your music in and the world out.

Build and Comfort

Purpleheart wood cups come in natural and black lacquered finishes, and a three-axis adaptive swivel fits a wide range of head shapes. The included cable is a serious piece in its own right: an 8-strand braid of 1,000 conductors combining Furukawa monocrystalline copper with silver-plated oxygen-free copper, finished with a swappable plug system so one cable serves all your sources.
