Type and Technology

The 14.5mm second generation planar driver uses a high performance PET diaphragm just 1 micron thick, with a patented dual coating system that selectively applies aluminum and titanium for an ideal balance of drive force and rigidity. Ultra fine 0.055mm circuit traces and fourteen N52 neodymium magnets in a dual sided array keep the diaphragm under precise control across its 10Hz to 40kHz bandwidth.

Sound Character

Classic planar virtues: fast, tight bass with no overhang, an even and honest midrange, and detailed treble that stays composed at volume. Because a single driver covers the whole range, the presentation is unusually coherent. At 36 ohms and 105dB/mW it works from a phone dongle, but firms up nicely with a dedicated source from our DAP collection.

Build and Comfort

Each shell wears a natural solid wood faceplate, with rosewood and black walnut finishes giving every pair unique grain. At about 6.5 grams per earpiece the FP3 disappears in the ear for long sessions. The cable attaches via standard 0.78mm 2-pin connectors, and FiiO also offers an FP3 TC edition that swaps in a USB-C cable with built in DSP decoding for phones and laptops.
