Fiio BTR15 Portable Bluetooth DAC and Headphone Amp

The FiiO BTR15 packs a full balanced DAC and amplifier architecture into a device barely bigger than a lighter. Successor to the hugely popular BTR5, it upgrades the wireless experience of any wired IEM or headphone with high resolution Bluetooth codecs, a color display and a proper 4.4mm balanced output at a very approachable price.

Type and Technology

The BTR15 is a portable Bluetooth DAC and headphone amplifier using dual ES9219MQ DAC chips with an independent power supply design. A Qualcomm QCC5125 chipset provides Bluetooth 5.1 with LDAC, aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, aptX LL, aptX, AAC and SBC. In wired USB DAC mode it handles PCM up to 384kHz/32bit and DSD256.

Sound Character

The BTR15 leans clean and balanced with a touch of smoothness, resolving plenty of detail without ever sounding sharp. Its 340mW balanced output drives IEMs and easier full size headphones with confident dynamics, and the low noise floor keeps sensitive multi driver earphones hiss free.

Build and Features

A 0.96 inch color display, physical volume and multifunction buttons, and both 3.5mm and 4.4mm outputs are packed into a 37.5g glass and aluminum body. The 550mAh battery runs around 8 hours per charge, and a 10 band parametric EQ plus channel balance and other tweaks are available through the FiiO Control app.
