Ferrum Wandla 2.0 DAC/Pre

The Ferrum Wandla 2.0 is a reference DAC and preamplifier built around the ESS Sabre ES9038PRO -- fine-tuned by Ferrum's in-house engineering team for a transparent, fatigue-free presentation, with dynamic filter selection, MQA decoding, and a fully balanced signal path. Made in Poland.

Type and Technology

Reference DAC and preamplifier, solid-state. ESS Sabre ES9038PRO DAC chip with Ferrum's proprietary current-to-voltage conversion optimization. Seven built-in ESS digital filters plus additional HQ Player filters, selectable via front panel or app. MQA decoder and renderer on all digital inputs. Digital inputs: AES/EBU, optical S/PDIF, coaxial S/PDIF, USB-C (up to 768kHz/32bit, DSD256), ARC with CEC, I2S. Analog input: RCA. Proprietary FPL DC power connector for connection to the Ferrum HYPSOS for maximum performance. Made in Poland.

System Integration

The Wandla 2.0 is the natural source component for the Ferrum OOR headphone amplifier and Ferrum ERCO Gen 2 in a complete Ferrum system. Connecting both the Wandla and OOR to the Ferrum HYPSOS Dual Output via FPL cables provides a dedicated linear power supply to both components simultaneously. The Ferrum BROEN network streaming transport pairs directly with the Wandla for a complete streaming source solution.

Sound Character

Transparent, musically balanced, and free of digital harshness. 127dB dynamic range and 0.00009% THD in an implementation tuned by Ferrum's own engineers rather than deployed off-the-shelf. Sounds spacious and natural rather than clinical.

Build and Finish

Matched form factor to the Ferrum OOR and HYPSOS at 217 x 206 x 50mm and 1.8kg. Comes with a DC power adapter; upgrades via the HYPSOS and FPL cable. Made in Poland.
