Chord Suzi

The Chord Suzi is a compact modular stereo power amplifier delivering 30 watts per channel using Chord's proprietary ULTIMA amplifier topology -- the same technology found in the flagship Ultima 5, 6, and Ultima Integrated, now made available in a desktop-friendly form factor. The Suzi's defining capability is its modularity: it docks directly with the Hugo 2 DAC or Hugo 2 plus 2go streamer to create a seamlessly integrated DAC/amplifier or streaming amplifier system without cables between units. Designed by Chord Electronics founder John Franks. Engineered and manufactured in England.

Type and Technology

30W per channel stereo power amplifier using Chord's ULTIMA amplifier topology. The ULTIMA topology employs dual feed forward error correction -- a technique that reduces amplifier distortion by correcting errors before they propagate through the circuit, rather than the conventional approach of using feedback after the fact. The Suzi brings this topology to a compact, modular chassis designed to work on its own with a conventional preamplifier via its RCA input, or to dock directly with the Hugo 2 and optionally the 2go, forming a fully integrated modular system. Three primary use cases: analogue pre/power (Suzi Pre with Suzi), DAC/amplifier (Hugo 2 with Suzi), or streaming amplifier (Hugo 2 plus 2go with Suzi). 4mm banana loudspeaker outputs. Optional USB Multiplexer accessory (sold separately, £300) adds USB-B and USB-C inputs to the Hugo 2 when docked.

The ULTIMA topology delivers Chord's characteristic precision, speed, and tonal accuracy in 30 watts of clean, controlled power. The Suzi is at home driving sensitive bookshelf loudspeakers in near-field setups, and the seamless Hugo 2 integration means there is no additional signal path between the DAC output and the amplifier input when docked.
