Aune BX2 Magnum

The Aune BX2 Magnum is a portable headphone amplifier with desktop ambitions: a fully balanced, fully discrete pure Class A design that carries a real vacuum tube stage and up to 5.18W of balanced output power on battery.

Two KORG Nutube 6P1 tubes run from a genuine 30V anode supply, and physical latching relays switch the signal path between Tube and Transistor modes, giving you two distinct amplifiers in one chassis.

Type and Technology

The four-channel Class A architecture uses twin JFET input stages and a 31-step digital R2R volume control. In transistor mode, distortion stays below 0.0003 percent through the balanced output, with an output impedance of just 1 ohm and signal to noise above 117dB. Output power reaches 1400mW at 32 ohms from the 3.5mm jack and 5180mW at 32 ohms from the 4.4mm balanced jack in high gain.

Sound Character

Transistor mode is transparent, controlled and quiet enough for sensitive IEMs. Switch to tube mode and the Nutube stage adds gentle harmonic richness and a rounder, more organic presentation, a genuine triode flavor rather than a simulation.

Build and Features

A CNC machined aluminum chassis measuring 186 x 92 x 38 mm houses a 14000mAh battery bank of seven cells: six form isolated positive and negative 12V analog rails while one runs the digital control section. Expect around 13 hours in transistor mode and 8 hours in tube mode, with USB-C charging. Inputs cover 3.5mm, 4.4mm balanced and RCA, preamp output is supported, and a 5-pin 12V input accepts the Aune BP1 external power supply (sold separately) for desktop duty.
