The Aune A17 is the flagship of Aune's new A Series, a Master Class desktop headphone amplifier and preamplifier built around true Class A operation and a fully discrete signal path. It is the statement piece of the Aune Audio range, engineered to drive everything from sensitive in ear monitors to the most demanding planar and high impedance headphones without ever leaving Class A.

Where the Aune S17 Pro EVO distilled Aune's Class A expertise into a compact chassis, the A17 removes every constraint: higher voltage rails, more output devices, finer volume control and a power supply architecture designed for stable Class A operation over long listening sessions.

Type and Technology

The A17 is a fully discrete, true Class A headphone amplifier and preamplifier. Its input stage uses a Twin JFET design with two junction field effect transistors in parallel, a topology with voltage controlled behaviour similar to a vacuum tube that gives the signal a full, solid texture from the very first gain stage. A new split power architecture runs the preamplifier stage on high voltage rails of plus or minus 20 V for generous dynamic headroom, while the output stage runs on plus or minus 15 V rails to keep heat in check during extended Class A operation. The output stage places three pairs of power transistors in parallel per channel, lowering output impedance and sharpening transient response, and delivers up to 11,500 mW into 32 ohms. Two current modes combined with four gain settings create a finely graded power range, and a 99 step R2R electronic volume system built on the JRC MUSES72323 chip keeps all four channels precisely matched.

Sound Character

The A17 carries Aune's signature warm and refined tonal character into flagship territory. The Twin JFET input lends instruments solid physical presence with a fine luster, while vocals come through delicate, refined and emotionally engaging. Enormous headroom translates into effortless dynamics, firm bass control and a stable, spacious soundstage even in dense passages. With a noise floor of 7 microvolts or lower and THD plus noise of just 0.00045 percent, it stays completely silent behind sensitive in ear monitors yet has the reserves to wake up the hardest loads.

Build and Features

A thick pure aluminium chassis with multi layer heat dissipation channels spreads warmth evenly for stable long term Class A operation, dressed in a sharp mecha inspired industrial design. Power comes from isolated dual supplies: a 100 W linear toroidal transformer feeds the analogue section while a separate supply with digital isolators runs the control logic, backed by an 80,000 uF capacitor bank. Dual colour coded displays show volume, gain and status at a glance, and every function has its own button: standby, mute, input, output, gain and current mode, all mirrored on the solid aluminium remote control. Connectivity covers 4 pin XLR, 6.35 mm and 4.4 mm headphone outputs plus RCA and XLR inputs and outputs, with independent volume logic for the headphone and preamp paths.
