Cayin HA-6A MK2

The Cayin HA-6A MK2 is the second-generation evolution of Cayin's acclaimed EL34 tube headphone amplifier, now upgraded with a dual-chassis design, KT88 output tubes as standard, a 4.4mm Pentaconn balanced output, remote control, and significantly higher output power. The fundamental character remains: selectable Triode and Ultralinear modes, comprehensive tube rolling compatibility, and Cayin's hallmark musicality. Now more powerful, quieter, and more versatile than ever.

Type and Technology

Desktop headphone amplifier and preamplifier, single-ended Class A vacuum tube. Dual-chassis design with a physically separated power supply to minimize magnetic interference and lower the noise floor. Genalex KT88 output tubes as standard (broad compatibility: EL34, 6550, KT66, KT150, and more). JJ ECC82/12AU7 voltage amplification and JJ GZ34/5AR4 rectification. Selectable Triode and Ultralinear modes via front-panel switch, switchable on the fly without powering down. Three impedance settings (Low, Mid, High) for headphones from sensitive IEMs to demanding planars. Fully point-to-point hand-wired signal path with silver-plated signal wiring. In-house designed custom toroidal power transformer and wide-bandwidth EI output transformers. 60-second soft start. Remote control for volume and mute. RCA preamp output for use as a tube preamplifier.

Sound Character

Warm, dimensional, and tonally rich in Triode mode, KT88 output tubes deliver a slightly fuller low-frequency foundation and wider dynamic range than the original EL34 configuration, while retaining the smooth, holographic midrange that defines the HA-6A character. Ultralinear mode tightens the presentation and adds grip and energy for more demanding headphones. The dual-chassis power supply produces a noticeably blacker background than the original, and tube rolling remains one of the most rewarding aspects of the platform.

Build and Finish

Dual-chassis construction with a silver-plated copper umbilical cable connecting the amplifier and power supply enclosures. Analogue VU meters on the front panel. Removable protective tube cage. Premium aluminum alloy chassis with Cayin's characteristic fit and finish. Includes remote control and spare fuses.
