HiBy dropped the original AK4191EQ/AK4499EX pairing for dual Cirrus Logic CS4308P chips, giving this generation a noticeably different, more contrasted character than the DAP it replaces.

Type and Technology

Dual Cirrus Logic CS4308P flagship DAC chips (replacing the previous generation's AK4191EQ/dual AK4499EX)

Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SOC, open Android 12 with global SRC bypass

Switchable Class A / AB amplification, up to 632mW balanced output

Discrete power supplies for the DAC, I/V stage, low-pass filter, and amplification sections

Dual NDK femtosecond crystal oscillators (45.1584MHz, 49.152MHz) positioned near the DACs for jitter control

6GB RAM, 128GB internal storage

Native DSD512, PCM 32bit/768kHz, MQA 16x unfolding

Sound Character

Reviewers describe the 2025 DAC swap as a real shift from the original R6 Pro II: more contrast, a more vivid presentation, and improved resolution and technical performance over the AKM based predecessor. It's positioned as an alternative sound profile rather than a straight upgrade, so if you specifically liked the old AK4499EX tuning, this is a different flavor, not just more of the same.

Build and Comfort

Distinctive wave pattern back panel with embossed detailing, carried over from the Pro II design language

147.45 x 75.2 x 15mm

Black only; the Blue colorway from an earlier run has been discontinued

Best For

Listeners who want flagship-adjacent DAC hardware in a sub-$1,000 player

Anyone upgrading from the original R6 Pro II who wants a different tonal balance, not just more power

High end IEM owners who prioritize control and resolution over sheer output

What's in the Box

R6 Pro II player, PD-compatible USB-C cable, wall charger, pleather case, and documentation.

Specifications

Spec

Detail

SOC

Snapdragon 665

DAC

Dual CS4308P

Amplification

Switchable Class A / AB, up to 632mW balanced

Operating system

Android 12 (open)

Storage

6GB RAM, 128GB

Formats

DSD512, PCM 32bit/768kHz, MQA 16x

Dimensions

147.45 x 75.2 x 15mm

Price

$599.00

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0213/4262/files/HiBy-R6-Pro-II-Review-feature-image.jpg_1_f4ecafe0-32f1-4795-952b-366d5a98daf5.jpg?v=1790442115
